Great Lakes Communication Corp. and Family of Companies Paints Freeman Center Schoolhouse

Employees from Great Lakes Communication Corp (GLCC) and its family of companies donated their time painting the Freeman Center Schoolhouse located in Riverside Park in Spencer on June 25, 2019.  Josh Nelson, CEO of the family of companies shares, “We are always looking for ways to give back to the communities we live and work in, so when we heard that the schoolhouse needed a fresh coat of paint, we were eager to provide the man power needed.”

The Freeman Center Schoolhouse was built in the early 1900s according to the Clay County Heritage Center. The schoolhouse was moved from its original location in northwest Clay County to its current location in 2007.

GLCC employees had planned to spend a full work day at the schoolhouse but were able to finish the project in just over four hours.  There were several other community partners for the project including the Spencer Parks Department, H&N Chevrolet Buick, who provided the power washer to clean the schoolhouse, Diamond Vogel and the Paint Iowa Beautiful program who provided the paint and primer.

Great Lakes Communication Corp. was founded in 2005 and is a family owned competitive local exchange carrier. GLCC family of companies include IGL TeleConnect, IGL Construction, Golf Ball Country, All Star Pro Golf, Spencer Auto Parts and more employing over 40 individuals.
